I have been focused on hitting milestones on this fitness journey. I am happy with my progress, but there is still so much to do. Here are some of the milestones I have achieved recently:
- Running – I have noted many times I don’t run. Honestly most of this has been because I couldn’t without feeling like I’d die. I am running at least three miles a day now and am loving it. I ran 4.5 miles this morning and it was all running not walking. I wouldn’t have been able to do this a year ago.
- Cycling – I have been lighting up the roads. I am riding almost every day and I crossed the 600 mile mark this morning. I have been focused on my morning rides for 2+ months. I am setting a milestone to eclipse 1,000 in a Summer for the first time in probably 20 years.
- Doctor appointment – I did it…I lowered my dose of blood pressure and cholesterol medicines. My doctor was very impressed at my progress. I told him in January I owed him 20+ pounds as I said I’d lose 10 between 6 month visits and didn’t do that. I lost 24 so I nailed that milestone. I told him my goal is another 15-20 pounds lost by next visit. It will be hard, but I will stay focused.
Reflection is key when focusing on milestones. Even while writing this I almost can’t believe I have made it to this point. Not because I don’t think I can lose the weight, but things like running and cycling as far and fast as I have been going just didn’t seem possible this quickly. I am losing weight at a slower pace, but the key there is I am still losing.
