Friday run – my doorbuster

Like a good number of Americans I woke up early this morning with the idea of snatching up a deal. I threw my clothes on and zipped down the steps. I got the rubber rolling and off I went. 6.2 treadmill miles later with an average of 10 minutes is the deal I landed…it felt really good. I felt even better when stepping on the scale…I hit my initial goal of 225 lbs.

I started this journey on Xmas day last year and said I’d like to be at 225 lbs by Xmas day 2013…I am ahead of schedule. I wasn’t worried about Thanksgiving, which has traditionally been my time to eat, slack and pack on the pounds. I have focused on getting my runs in while I have been on vacation, which makes eating what I want simple. I knew my calorie intake would be higher so I laid down more miles. As I have been saying, this is all math. I don’t starve myself I just eat sensible and watch my calories. I also try to steer clear of empty calories like you’ll find in pop / soda.

I have a lot to be thankful for this time of year (family, friends, home, etc). I am very thankful that the pounds I have shed have made me a better person both physically and mentally. I now know I am on course for a much longer fulfilling life.
