Sunday run – slow the roll

I have been out of the office the past two weeks enjoying time with my family and getting in some me time. During the work week everything moves at warp speed. I burn the candle at both ends when it comes to things like sleep. These past two weeks I slowed the roll of my crazy fast paced life.

I have slept an average of 8 hours a night the past two weeks. To put this in perspective I usually get 5-6 hours a night during a regular week. There were days that I woke up at 4 am and instead of getting out of bed I read for a bit and went back to sleep. That I could do that amazed me more than anything. I woke up refreshed and ready to tackle the day.

I have averaged 6 miles running per day over the break. I attribute the longer averages to more sleep, less stress and a bit more time. Yes, I did get sick, but really for only one day and I listened to my body and took the day off. In the past I would have been laid up 2 to 3 days, but finding fitness has helped me ward off things like the common cold.

Today I woke up and felt like I wanted to put some distance in. I also felt like I didn’t want to chase the clock. I decide to throw on every piece of lycra, spandex and polyester I own and head outside. I clipped off a 10K at an 11:01 average. I focused on just moving my legs and enjoying a nice Winter run. I took it easy and I slowed the roll…words I lived by the past two weeks and will try to incorporate into my normal fast paced life.

Decide to dominate!
