I woke up early and got ready to head in to see the trainer. Luckily my wife stopped me to let me know the trainer wasn’t in today based on the bug that seems to be going around. I looked at the time and determined I had enough time to lace up the sneakers and hit the road.
I not only hit the road I lit it up (at least based on my normal speeds). I went out in the low 9 minutes and it didn’t let up. After three miles I knew I had that under one hour 10K in sight. In mile five when I looked down and saw I was cruising along at 8:50 I knew I’d destroy my personal record. I ended with a 10K of 57:18, which is over two minutes faster than my record from earlier this week (a record that took almost a year to achieve).
It is mornings like this that make me realize that I have come so far. Never did I imagine doing a 10K yet alone breaking the one hour mark. If I can do it then a whole lot of other people who are seeking a healthy living can also.
