Race – Midtown Cleveland HealthLine Classic 10K

I’ve been training hard to get ready for this 10K. I wanted to beat my previous pace in this event. Last year was one of the worst days with weather, but one of my better times. I knew I’d have to go out quick…so I went for it.

I finished in 53:22 with a 8:36 average. I was able to get 4th in my age group and 41st overall out of 122.

I had to push it over than final 5K as I had a slower end to the first 5K from going out too fast. I finished 12 seconds faster than last year. It felt great to beat last years time. I initially thought I was 10 seconds slower, but when the official times came out I was faster.

Now I need to focus on getting to the next level. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers each averaged 7:07. No way I can get there without dropping more pounds…so that is what I’ll focus on. Time to get a bit lighter in order to get a lot faster.

Sunday run – cool running

When I wake up and see 60 degrees I get all giddy because that is perfect weather for my running style.

I was a bit sore from a faster paced 10K yesterday, but with an off day from running on Monday I decided to leave it all on the road.

I set a rhythm in the first mile in the low 9’s so I knew I could be looking at a good run. I finished with a 9:00 average and clocked my second fastest 10K at 55:54.

I’ve gotten lazy with my first mile the past few months. I’ve started slow and had a hard time building off of it. I felt better today going out a bit quicker and managing my run off that pace. I had to focus a lot on breathing and stride, which kept my lazy running style at bay.

Decide to dominate!

Saturday run – it’s been a while

We all forget about our blogs occasionally. We live busy lives and get away from posting. Luckily for me I haven’t gotten away from focusing on what drives FitLoe and that’s focusing on my fitness.

I just got done with a 10K at a 9:22 pace. Picked it up in the last two miles as I was averaging 9:31. Cool, windy and raining makes for a better mix then hot and humid like it’s been lately. Glad I ran in all the humidity this summer as today’s run was easier and I had a lot left in the tank.

I’m almost to 800 miles for the year running and I have 1,200 miles on the road bike. Shooting for another year of 1,000+ for both and I’m almost there.

Decide to dominate!
