226 day run streak…Cleveland Half Marathon

I’m very happy with today’s outcome. I shaved 3+ minutes off my PR and I never saw a 10 minute mile! There’s still work to do to get to 1:59:59…my Garmin had me at 2:00:41. I left it all out there and today’s run was rewarding for so many reasons.

I’ll be back for more with Team Fleet Feet and I guarantee I’ll find a way to shave off at least 42 seconds. I couldn’t have done any of this without the support of the training groups. Getting the encouragement during the training and cheering during the race today was amazing. I highly recommend that anyone that is looking for a training group you look at Fleet Feet first…such an amazing group of people.

I’ll take the rest of today easy and then back at it tomorrow.

215 day run streak…Wednesday double up

Decided to get a run and a ride in this morning back to back. Luckily today was a short run just to keep the legs moving, which made it easy to jump on the bike.

I couldn’t have asked for a better morning to double up. Believable humidity and not a ton of wind. Days like today make me want to focus more on training for the Summer duathlons…still deciding if I’ll be doing those ever again 🙂

215 day run streak is in the books

213 day run streak

Got up…got out…got it done. Less than two weeks until the next attempt to go sub-2 hours for a half and still fighting my aches and pains.

Spending more time stretching before and after each run. I’ve also promised myself to roll every day…which is what I have to go do now. Working out this “pain in the butt” isn’t easy.

Took it easy and went out slow with negative splits and a build up for a last mile fast mile.

212 Day Run Streak + A Family Ride

I jumped on the treadmill today for a easy 2+ miles. Yesterday was a good run through the hills of Pepper Pike so nice and easy was the focus today.

I crossed the 211 mark yesterday so now we are in new territory where every day is a personal record. Still on track for 365!

I finished off the day with an easy ride with the kids. First group ride of the year for Team Loe.

141 day run streak…progress

I wasn’t able to make my team run today. The workout was 35 minutes out and 35 minutes back at a smooth relaxed pace. I wasn’t going to skip so I enlisted the services of one of my other running partners.

Jasper seems to have no issue with long distances or holding a 9:30ish average…as long as I promise he’ll see squirrels. This was his first long run of the year and he did very well. I felt great and could have gone longer or faster, but didn’t as I’m really trying to stick to the half fast program.

I’m working hard to watch when I’m eating by limiting snacking and eating better. Robeks has become a go to for me for lunch…lots of great smoothie choices loaded with fruits and veggies. Yes, I said veggies…me I know. You can hide anything in a smoothie…it’s true. I’m still on track for dropping below the 200 lb mark before my first half of the year.

128 day run streak…and more

I got after it today. Woke up and got out the door on the Beargrease (fatbike). I found out today that snow is softer than pavement…I always knew that, but never really rode in snow before the past few months. I bailed a few miles in to the trail and laid there a few moments laughing as falling didn’t hurt…until the cold set in. It’s fun getting in winter miles preparing for the road bike season.

Of course I had to get in a few miles on running rest day. Jumped on the treadmill and logged an easy two. Followed that up by rounding out the morning workout with 25 minutes of HIIT keeping the heat rate at a 140 bpm average.

I’m focused on dropping 15-20 lbs to work on getting faster and hopefully finally break that 2 hour half marathon goal. Going to get back in to my routine that helped me drop 70 lbs and post my weight. My hope is that post it that it will keep me honest and motivated. I’m down 4 lbs since I started counting again…I’ll take it.

185 Day Run Streak – Avon Eagle Run

A great day for a 5 miler at the Avon Eagle Run. I’ve always enjoyed this race as it’s an easy course through the subdivisions near the high school. It’s usually the late Spring heat and humidity that make it really interesting. This year was no different with 90% humidity at the start.

Coming off the Cleveland Half and my week  and a half of head cold hell I finally felt good. Ran slower and shorter all week getting the legs back. I covered the course in 42:50 which put me in at an 8:34 average. I tied my fastest time for this run from two years ago. Very happy with today’s performance.

Great job by the sponsors, volunteers supporters and the City of Avon to make this years Avon Eagle Run a huge success.
